EA Hotel Jeleni dvur

Close to wild nature, yet in the centre of the city

Just step outside of the hotel and enjoy pleasant walks through the historical-romantic heart of Prague, visit various Prague's pubs, restaurants and cafés. And should you desire a bit of privacy, rest and beautiful nature, few steps away from the hotel you can enter a valley of Brusnice creek with Jelení příkop (Deer's ditch) which connects to the Royal Garden. Enter places which weren't opened to public for more than 200 years, sit under a secular lime-tree under which Mr. Masaryk, first Czechoslovak President, used to sit and relax.

The Royal Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in Prague and has a surface of 3,6 ha. The garden has magnificent English lawn, flower areas and beautifully decorated giardinetto whereas the Deer's ditch is a bit wilder and it's being kept this way on purpose - you will find yourself in a romantic place with forest smell of oak trees, larches, spruces and pine trees with numerous paths and routes.

On your wanderings you will find benches to stop and have a rest. On the northern edge of the Deer's ditch, there is a secular lime-tree under which Mr. Masaryk used to sit and relax. Mr. Plečnik, architect, built a Masaryk view point at the tree from which you can admire breathtaking views of Prague Castle, Hradčany palaces and Petřín.

In the 14th century there used to be vineyards on the southern slopes which were replaced by deer in the 16th century. The inhabitants living there were often shooting the deer right from the windows of the residence. Unfortunately, during the French occupation in the 18th century all deer were shot and only the name of the ditch remained as a memory.
